If you’ve recently become a homeowner you’re probably excited to start furnishing your new home! Here we’ve put together several current interior design trends to help inspire your interior.
Brighten a Room with Color
Our first tried and true interior design trend is to use vibrant colors. Of course, this is going to mean that you will need to step out of your comfort zone by using more bright colors instead of natural tones. Adding some fresh color to a room can help lift the mood of that room. You can think of many different ways to tastefully add some brightly colored accents to your space. For example, consider decorating with some brightly colored throw pillows, a blanket, or even a colorful rug for the floor.
Decorate with Vintage Accents
Another recommended trend is to buy some vintage accessories to go in your space. This is one way that you will be able to make the old new again, and blend beautiful aesthetic quality with pieces that are one of a kind. Since vintage furniture and accents are by definition older pieces, they have their own story to tell that you can combine with your modern decor. You can find plenty of vintage furniture and accents in person at an antique shop, or even online.
Work with Wood
One popular current trend is to buy wood floors that are wide plank or light-hued. The wide planks are going to give the home a more rustic feel, unlike the narrow hardwood floors that are not going to have this. Some of the most common light hued woods are going to be reclaimed pine, engineered wood, and bamboo. Most of the time, you are going to want to get the floor in a white, off-white, taupe, or gray. Plus these woods are going to last you a long time so they are going to be worth the price that you pay for them.
Consider the Cabinets
For this current trend, get kitchen cabinets that are two-toned. Since you are going to be using this room a lot more than some of the other rooms, you want to make a big impact in this area. This means that you don’t have to get everything to match anymore. In fact, you can come up with a group of colors that are going to be aesthetically pleasing when they are combined together. It might also be a good idea to put an island in the center of the room, which you can give it a dramatic feel or even a natural palette.
Make a Statement with Metallic Colors
Our final suggested trend is to mix a combination of metallic colors with non-metallic ones. Of course, this is going to be a more interesting look inside of the home. The metal surfaces are going to be able to catch your eye when you enter the room. This is also allows you to have warm and cool finishes inside of the room. You can try a combination of a cool shade like stainless steel with the combination of a warm finish like cooper so that space does not become too overwhelming. This sort of update is usually easy to do and won’t cost a lot.
